TRANSFORMATIONS: ARKHE & VANITAS
Ascension / Capsule
9 - 24 June 2026
Each capsule carries an endless transformation...
Existence is a continuous state of transformation. Every becoming contains its own dissolution; every ending carries within it the seed of a new beginning. TRANSFORMATIONS / ARCHE & VANITAS approaches this ancient cycle not merely as an aesthetic theme, but as one of the fundamental principles of existence.
Ascension / Capsule, the latest phase of Filiz Kiprik’s long-term intellectual and artistic inquiry, expands the conceptual continuity established in her previous exhibitions, Change / Arche and Transformations / Arche & Vanitas, and carries it into a new dimension. The imagery of the universe, outer space, and cosmic voids that emerges throughout the works invites viewers to contemplate transformation not only as an individual or earthly process, but also through the lens of infinity, uncertainty, and the universal scale of existence.
At the conceptual core of the exhibition lies Arche—the search for origin, essence, and first cause. Defined in ancient philosophy as the fundamental principle of the cosmos, Arche here points toward the creative source of transformation. Vanitas, on the other hand, reminds us of life's transience, the inevitable passage of time, and the fragility of existence. Rather than presenting these concepts as opposites, the exhibition approaches them as complementary modes of being.
The philosophical foundation of the works draws upon Heraclitus’s notion of perpetual change, Democritus’s conception of infinite void, and Jean-Paul Sartre’s idea of nothingness. Here, change, emptiness, and nothingness are understood not as realms of annihilation, but as spaces of becoming, freedom, and renewal.
Dense layers of color, powerful brushstrokes, and continuously evolving forms invite the viewer not only into a visual experience but also into a process of inner reflection. Surfaces charged with cosmic associations merge with layers reminiscent of galactic voids and stellar formations, evoking an invisible connection between the human inner world and the universe. Every surface becomes a field of emergence; every color bears the traces of burning, transformation, and rebirth.
The exhibition’s new phase, Ascension / Capsule, reconsiders transformation through the lens of consciousness and awareness. Capsule forms reminiscent of butterfly cocoons reveal that change is not merely a process of dissolution, but also one of unfolding potential, inner maturation, and spiritual ascent. Moving from darkness toward light, from enclosure toward expansion, this process elevates individual transformation to a cosmic scale.
The capsule forms encountered throughout the exhibition evoke cellular structures, layers of consciousness, and the unseen stages of transformation. Each capsule carries an unfinished state of becoming; each transformation heralds the possibility of a new mode of existence.
TRANSFORMATIONS / ARCHE & VANITAS – Ascension / Capsule approaches the inevitability of change not as a loss, but as a source of meaning, consciousness, and creative energy. It invites viewers to encounter the silence of the void and to discover the creative spark hidden within it.
