Within the relationship between the part and the whole, Patchwork embodies the cosmopolitan nature of art. It represents the emergence of a new and higher unity through a network of relationships in which each element preserves its own identity without losing, altering, or transforming itself. Regardless of scale or significance, every individual piece contributes to the whole simply through its presence, revealing existence in its purest form.
