Manifesto
In Miraç Ceyhan’s works, the animal image functions as a metaphorical device that points to humanity’s primal nature rather than serving as a direct representation. The merging of human and animal elements is not merely a formal intervention; it alludes to the fragmentation of the self, the blurring of boundaries, and the reemergence of what has been suppressed.
The artist neither rejects nor glorifies the animalistic aspects of human nature. Instead, he approaches instinctual nature as an inseparable component of human existence. The focus of his work is not the suppression or liberation of the primitive, but the questioning of the relationship established with it.
The hybrid forms and transforming bodies that appear in his works emerge as reflections of an encounter with the unfamiliar that exists within the self. Through these figures, the viewer is invited to confront not only a body, but also those aspects of themselves that have been suppressed, neglected, or remain difficult to define.
Ceyhan’s practice approaches the human being not as a singular and unified entity, but as a subject in a constant state of transformation, carrying contradictions and coexisting with its own animal nature. In this context, form becomes a trace of humanity’s endless struggle with its own nature, as well as the unavoidable coexistence it maintains with it.
