Murat Turan (b. 1988, Istanbul) was admitted to the Department of Painting at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 2007, where he studied in Prof. Aydın Ayan's studio. He completed his undergraduate degree in 2013 and later earned his Master's degree under the supervision of Prof. Umut Germeç with a thesis entitled "The Domestic Animal Figure in Contemporary Turkish Painting."

Having participated in numerous exhibitions both in Türkiye and abroad, Turan frequently incorporates animal figures into his work. His early practice explored the concept of belonging and the relationship between the individual and the urban environment. In his later works, however, he has concentrated on the theme of "Psychosis," approaching it as a reflection of the sense of helplessness that emerges when individuals internalize social realities.

The artist also revisited the historic Yurt Gezileri (Homeland Tours) project, originally carried out with state support between 1938 and 1943, through the television program Resme Yolculuk (Journey to Painting) broadcast on TRT 2, where he appeared both as the program's host and as an artist.

Murat Turan currently lives and works in his studio in Kadıköy, Istanbul.
